Learn New Testament Greek' is distinctly different from many Greek course textbooks as it leaves the technical jargon until later in the textbook and gets you straight into reading and translation exercises from the first chapter. \\n\\nThe chapters are designed to be read fast in order to grasp the overall concept being introduced, before going back and working through the exercises carefully. \\nThe exercises have you translating numerous short phrases, with the answers in the right-hand margin (which you uncover as you read down the page). This encourages reading rather than memorising and allows you to monitor your progress in real time. \\nThere is also a focus on translating the meaning of phrases into good English rather than being overly literal. \\n\\nThere are downloadable audio tracks for the first 21 chapters, and multiple choice progress tests with answers in the back of the book. \\n(From chapter 14 however you will need your own Greek New Testament to complete some of the reading exercises). \\n\\nOverall the book is an enjoyable introduction to the language and I would highly recommend this book for anyone self-learning New Testament Greek. \\n

This Greek textbook is unique because of its inductive method. Instead of focusing on grammatical terms and technicalities, Dobson has the reader start reading meaningful Greek from the beginning. He helps the reader pick up patterns intuitively rather than labouring over excessive memorisation and grammar work. This book would complement a more traditional textbook well, though students may struggle if this was the only textbook used. Highly recommended.
