Little Pilgrim’s Big Journey (The Complete Box Set): Parts 1-3

Great set of books - however I feel the age range is a little misleading. My 4yo and 5yo liked the pictures, but the overall book isn't really written with a 4yo in mind. Yes, there is sections at the end of each chapter to help explain the themes in the books, but the general language and way the book is written is really hard for a 4 or 5 year old to understand. I was really hoping to love reading these books with my kids, and I'm sure I will eventually. But I think we need to wait a little while longer. I think the recommended age should be put up a little bit more. It's probably more suited to 6/7yo - it's a heavy book to read before bed!

These are lovely books - illustrations and wording is great. However, I would say the recommended ages of 4-7 isn't quite accurate. My 4yo and 5yo found alot of the terminology hard to understand (and yes there are sections at the end of each chapter to help explain and simplify the text - but it's still a heavy book for really little people) and some sections a bit confronting for that age bracket. I would say the book is more suited to 6+ at the earliest. We will probably pick it up again when the kids are older.

My two kids (5 and 3 years old) absolutely loved these books. They liked them so much, we read each one in one day (before bed, after waking, at breakfast, at lunch). Wonderfully simplified text that they clearly understood, engaging beautiful illustrations. The stories have sparked many curious questions and deep conversations about the nature of our Christian walk and spiritual journey. Highly recommend.
