Goes with the DVD
Francis Chan's book deals with some very painful problems with the modern church, in a hard-hitting but graciously understanding manner. This book is interactive, in the sense that you are required to put it down and think sometimes, or read a passage of scripture, and fill in the questions after watching the DVD sessions by yourself or in small groups. The gist of the material is to get us to be and do as the bible portrays a believer should, but it doesn't come across condemning or condescending in any way. I bought a few copies for friends after they came over and saw the DVD playing and were intrigued by the open manner in which very tough questions were being discussed. I mean, the first chapter is """"stop praying"""" (about mindless, monotonous, religious prayer over actually talking to GOD) and the second is """"you might not finish this chapter"""" (about the imminence of death for all of us, and living our lives in a way that exemplifies Christ and leaves a legacy!
