Quite helpful in defining unknown, or familiar yet broad, terms that you come across in the Bible. The addition of diagrams and other visual aids for some of the entries has also been useful. A great resource for anyone who regularly reads the Bible.

Helpful resource
This is an extremely handy go to reference for any student of the Bible (whether a formal student or just a learning Christian!) I find it very thorough in the topics covered but it doesn't get too bogged down- giving further reading if you're still wanting to flesh something out. Reliable and trustworthy scholars who take the Bible seriously have put many hours into this edition. Definitely worth having on the bookshelf

Exciting Dictionary? Better Believe it!
My only gripe is the print size - it isn't tiny but it's not quite comfortable. That could be my age showing. It's a huge book, but light for it's size. The entries cover everything, people, places, doctrines, theological terms, bible books, historical references - I love it! And it's not boring too - it reads well like a Wiersbe commentary, practical and accessible for the layman.

Not Boring Details!
I'm doing a correspondence course on the Bible and this is a recommended book to read - admittedly in short bursts. I am very surprised by what I have found inside this weighty volume. Take, for example, the entry called """"Bible"""". This is beautifully written and was a blessing to read. I encourage you to open up the NBD next time you are in Koorong and open to """"Bible"""" and be inspired. Yes the people who wrote the entries in this book are well-read and mostly academic but they have written of the Christian faith in a way that will allow all of us to grow not only in knowledge but also in hope and trust. I recommend it.
