Pearl in the Sand (10th Anniversary Edition)

I loved this book! It’s so refreshing to read an in-depth version of Rahab’s story. Tessa Afshar really delves deep into Rahab’s growing faith and the trials she faced after being spared in Jericho. A beautiful love story with tests in obedience and faith. A true testimony that God can use anyone for greatness.

I have enjoyed many of Tessa Afshar's books recently, with stories based on the little we know about various women mentioned in Scripture. I really appreciated how she made it clear we don't really know many actual details about these women, yet wove historical settings, characters and facts into a compelling story. This story, with Rahab as the main character, hooked me in (read it in a few days! even with toddlers!) and I liked that the 'happy ending' romance-y story wasn't the only or primary focus, but instead Rahab's faith and personal growth was the key feature. Well worth the read.

A great book. We can learn a lot from this fictional story about Rahab and Salmone. Forgiveness, trust, grace and mercy. These were imperfect people who loved God. I found Rahab's faith to be inspiring and challenged me to draw even closer to God. A wonderful story that shows our imperfect stories with all our varying personalities but as christians we all belong to the family of God. I think we can see ourselves in a lot of the different people portrayed in this story.
