    Thoughtful insights

The key contribution of Keller's book is not another basic how-to guide to preaching. Instead, Keller helpfully provides Bible teachers a guide to examining the culture, and connecting the truth of the Bible with the culture of the audience. A useful book for anyone wanting to communicate and apply the Bible to others.

    Brilliant preaching foundations

Keller writes this fantastic book on foundations for good preaching. In the earlier chapters, Keller explains why preaching needs to be gospel-centric and Christ-exalting, and also shows how it can (and needs) to be done from all of scripture. Perhaps the best section of the book is the middle section on preaching to the culture. These chapters show that Keller has really studied the culture today as he gives wisdom on how to preach into today's culture narratives. The appendix and notes section (nearly 100 pages worth of it!) should not be overlooked as they contain plenty of helpful notes. \\r\\n\\r\\nI'd recommend this book to anyone. As the back cover says """"Keller shares his wisdom on communicating the Christian faith from the pulpit as well as from the coffee shop"""".

    Brilliant cultural insight

Keller's book contains some pitfalls for those without an existing method of sermon preparation and a strong foundation in Biblical theology. However, it is a brilliantly communicated exegesis of our culture which will undoubtedly help many who take time to reflect on Keller's insights and imitate his Christ-exalting approach to preaching.
