    River Song

As with all books from this author, the story captivated me the whole way through. I really enjoyed getting to know each character and it left me constantly inquisitive - I wonder what they will do next? As with the last book of Jeanette’s I could not put it down in the final quarter! So much so, everything else got put aside as I chose to race to the finish - I was pleasantly surprised, late at night, to read the finale and the unexpected outcome of the key characters! A great read, with lots of descriptive scenery which brought the Kennilworth area vividly into my imagination. I highly recommend this Romantic Fiction to anyone wanting a gripping story. Well done Jeanette. Yet another success to add to your long list of writings.

    River Song

Another beautifully crafted novel by Jeanette Grant Thomson, author of Lantern Light, Amelia’s Island and many others. Claire, the main character is a very likeable young lady while her rather different friend Viv, piqued my interest from the start. The story flowed very well – and it made for easy reading and a desire to keep turning the pages. The beautiful setting where the river flowed added charm to the story – a perfect context and backdrop in an elegant homestead. Plenty of interest is generated by unforeseen circumstances and plot twists that finally reach a happy ending.

The novel is based in the sixties – the age of flower power and the Vietnam war. The presentation of the book is excellent – adds to the quality of the novel. Several important themes are woven into the story that forces the reader to put on her thinking cap and reflect as she reads. An unobtrusive faith element is cleverly threaded into the tale and adds a great deal to it. River song is a book to pick up any time and enjoy. I highly recommend it.

    River Song

This story is set in the sixties – an interesting time of great social change. Claire and Viv draw us into their lives in this significant time of history.

I found the rural countryside setting and description of Viv’s home and family exquisite – it breathes fragrance and beauty. This novel provides a sense of place that draws the reader into the girls’ world.

I got to know Claire and Viv throughout their uni years of socialising and renting a home together. They both hope for husbands. Their friendship blossoms quickly and Viv asks Claire for frequent getaways to her Kenilworth property home.

Issues are threaded throughout this story. Some challenging, some thought-provoking. A beautiful story infused with real-life dramas. Thankyou, Jeanette.
