The gospel at the heart of Romans
The 'For You' series by the Good Book Company are a well needed addition to the 'commentary world'. The target audience for this series is the everyday Christian, who is looking to know and love God more, and these books provide - truly meeting their slogan as a book to 'read, feed and lead'. Whilst there are other books out there written for this purpose, these books are written by an array of pastors and theologians, some well known names such as Tim Keller and Tim Chester, and some lesser known, but all with a passion for the gospel and a great ability to be able to communicate the meaning and application of God's word. This series is one I highly recommend as an addition to your regular Bible reading. \\r\\n\\r\\nThis second installment of Romans for You is every bit as good as the first, and whilst can be read alone, is most helpful if read following Keller's first book on chapters 1-7, and understandably many of the themes and topics carry on from the first half of Paul's letter. In a very general sense, the second half of Romans is about how to apply the gospel truths from the first half. In Romans 8, Tim does a fantastic job of unpacking it and showing how each section relates to other parts of the chapter, and of course thoroughly covers a range of topics in 9-16. All in all must read book
