Same Kind of Different as Me, DVD

I was hoping to give this to my teen grandsons. It is pg mild themes and violence. As the main character's infidelity doesn't add anything to the story - I wish they had left it out. Guess sex has to be in every movie. Feeling that it is one """"theme"""" too many . . . I won't be giving it to them now and will continue to search for an elusive good movie.

I can only 'ditto' all of the above reviews, but I was also interested to learn that this movie was dropped by it's original distributor, after it had been completed, which was a blessing to the company that took it on. It was a """"Bradbury"""" moment. This is a winner, which many well spoken secular movie critics panned at the time. \\n I'm glad the Christian distributor took this on, and I'd go as far as saying that I am proud to see that Koorong has it on the shelves, as it is a powerful story of neighbourly love, long suffering, forgiveness and compassion. \\nIt's old fashioned story telling. Good old fashioned story telling. No fancy CGI, not trying to be something it's not. It's the story, it's the characters, it's the wonderfully crafted production that drew me in. \\nIt speaks of social issues in the US, but with a few names and class structure changes, it speaks to everyone, even in Australia. \\nHighly recommended\\n

This was a really great watch, with some big name actors, a well written script based on a true story, and lots of very powerful moments. I loved Debbie, played by Renee Zellweger - such a strong woman, who believed in the power of friendship and was fearless in her determination to reach out in friendship to anyone and everyone, even those who showed inclination to respond with harm rather than returning the friendship. Her approach saw as many results in her peers as it did in those she was reaching out to - a great lesson in shining a light into a dark world and how easily the light will spread. One for the entire family.
