    Life changing

This book was pivotal in changing the course of my spiritual journey. After becoming a Christian I was plagued with doubts about whether I was really a Christian and tossed around by my feelings “spiritually depressed”.

I found this book at Koorong over 4 decades ago. I had never heard of MLJ. MLJ was so practical in his advice. He explained why we get depressed spiritually and how to get out of it. A key for me was to “talk to yourself“ & remind yourself of God’s truths rather than what I thought or felt. It seems so obvious now, but back then, it helped end the spiritual depression.

This book however is not just for recent converts, but like all his books, speaks to the seasoned veteran as well. Over the years, I have collected nearly all his books. Truly rich content by an academically and spiritually wise man, that “finished the race” well for God.

The best book I've read on this topic

This is an excellent book on spiritual depression, and a valuable read for those searching for answers regarding spiritual depression. It is thoroughly Bible-based and contains powerful and profound ideas in each chapter. It was written before psychology became the popular lense through which society interpreted everything else, so it's style is straight-forward and modern.
