Excellent introduction
This standard bible college textbook covers church history from the time of the apostles to just before the Reformation. It is readable and divided into short, digestible chapters. Highly recommended both for students and lay people alike.

Great Foundational reading
This book is a great foundational reading for early church history. It gives great coverage of historical events and the debates that influenced the church and its' doctrine. Highly recommended!
