This is the first book in the Sky King Ranch series. Dodge Kingston, one of triplet brothers, is a pilot who had always hoped to take over the ranch when their father retired. However, that dream was put to rest 10 years previously when he and one of his brothers had a terrible falling out over Echo Yazzie, Dodge's first love. Dodge returns after 10 years and finds unexpected changes. His father is grounded and might be selling the ranch, Echo is still unmarried and has a dangerous job, and he's still harbouring unforgiveness. Now Echo's research partner has gone missing in the Alaskan wilderness and things are going to get a whole lot more dangerous. Can he make peace with God, forgive those important to him and move into the future he was meant to have?\\n\\nThis is another winner from Susan May Warren. The characters are wrestling with deep issues, there is suspense set against a beautiful landscape and the writing is snappy. I got a bit frustrated with Dodge, especially after learning that Echo had sent him 37 letters that he'd never answered! However, one of Echo's issues resonated with me and I found myself applying some of her lessons to my own situation. \\n\\nIf you like Christian romantic suspense, you'll find much to enjoy in this book.

Compelling
I'd forgotten just how good Susan May Warren is as a writer, and how her stories effect me. They compel me to read, and read and read. I wished I'd taken this on holidays last month, so I could sit and read in long blocks of time, rather than snatching moments to read a page at a time just because I had to see what happened next. The Alaskan setting is stunning, beautifully described, and takes on the role of being one of the main characters in the story. Dodge Kingston and Echo Yazzie are beloved main characters - so flawed, so wounded, so human, and yet so open to God's miracle working transformation, healing and reconciliation in their lives. This story has everything to make it perfect - action without being fixated on gore or violence, suspense, sweet romance and a satisfying conclusion that paves the way for the next book in the Sky King Ranch series. I can't wait.
