Along with """"Boundaries in Dating"""" by CloudTownsend and """"I, Isaac, Take Thee, Rebekah"""" by Zacharias, this book has been an instrumental part of my journey towards marriage. Following a few miserable relationships (for the other person!), I slowly discovered that I had a long journey towards wholeness before I could really give of myself in a healthy way, and also receive my partner's love. Having read earlier versions of this book written for Married couples and teens, I thought I knew it all. But applying the principles in different contexts (singleness!) was a challenge and this book gave so much clarity. I've been working through insecurities and brokenness and have now become a husband and father by His grace, to a wife whom (I hope) is loved fully and I've allowed to love me back without pretense, intimidation or unspoken reciprocal.

Viewing relationships in a new way
I have been waiting for God to write my love story for sometime now, and as I wait I am building an arsenal of books to help me view relationships, relating, communicating, and loving. This book made sense of failed or strained relationships, and not just romantic ones. It explains why I'm so different to my siblings in how we relate as a family; it also explains why some romantic relationships, though well suited, ultimately failed. \\r\\n\\r\\nI look forward to applying my new learnings to relationships far and wide, and hope that one day I can love someone in their love language, and receive the benefits of two-way love.
