New Year. New Resolution. New Romance?

What happens when the best-laid plans break a friendship?

As the twin sister of hockey's hottest forward, romance-loving Bree Karlsson is used to being ignored, leading to a New Year's resolution to not date any athlete in her attempt to find Mr. Right. But what happens when the man who might prove to be her personal Mr. Darcy is her brother's hockey-playing best friend?

Mike Vaughan might be happy playing in Boston, but he'd be even happier if Bree could one day see him as more than a good friend. He agrees to help Bree with a special project in the hope she'll finally see him as something more. But when a misunderstanding ends in a Valentine's Day disaster, Bree realizes that her breakup project may have broken her friendship with Mike in two. Can she ever redeem her mistake?

This friends-to-more romance has plenty of heart, humor, and swoon-worthy kisses in this first book of the Original Six, a sweet, slightly sporty Christian contemporary romance series.

    LOVE!

Carolyn has done it again, with a great first book for her newest series. I'm not a huge sports fan except for tennis, but I actually really enjoyed all the parts about hockey, so if you're thinking not for me because it's a sports series please think again and give it a try. I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

    Great read

A wonderful contemporary novel with relatable characters - I certainly felt all the feelings along with them! I didn't know much about ice hockey but that certainly didn't stop me from enjoying it. Highly recommend this start to the series.

    A delight

I may have stayed up much later than I should have to read just a bit more. :) Thoroughly enjoyed the strong spiritual journey of these two. Often had a silly grin on my face, perched on the edge of my seat, and even had to get up and walk off the tension. A great read. \\n\\nI didn't enjoy the Chloe character and was very glad to see the last of her. There was a brief blip about some charismatic type stuff (at least that's how it comes off to me). It lasted only for one chapter, and most of the comments I was fine with anyway. A few references to alcohol consumption, but for the most part, anything I dislike to read was kept to a minimum. \\n\\nNot very sporty at all. There were only a handful of references I didn't understand. My biggest trouble was trying to work where they lived or visited. I know states over there better than cities, and Carolyn tended to assume people knew the cities she mentioned. I got myself straightened out eventual. But if anyone else needs a heads up, Bree lives in Canada and Mike in North-eastern America. \\n\\nI really enjoyed the spiritual encouragements, realistic modern day struggles, and the story. Well crafted and enjoyable.

Sports and Romance! Great start to a new series !

I love Carolyn Miller's writing style in all her Regency Romance books so to be given the privilege of previewing the first of her newest series of modern day, sports focused and inspirational books gave me great pleasure. \\nMisunderstandings, crossed messages and sibling rivalry present a great starting point for a relationship don't you think? Added to this, Bree's hockey playing twin brother's arrogance and attitude is enough to swear off dating hockey players for the year. So enters Mike Vaughan, another hockey player and friend of her brother and Bree declares him """"just a friend"""" too. \\nBree learns a lot of lessons in the next year; not the least being clear communication, as well as looking to God and recognising his plan for her life may not be what she thought it would be. \\nI love how she grows and matures and I look forward to reading more of her and Mike and their families and friends in the upcoming books in this series. And Carolyn's smart conversations between her protagonists never disappoint!

One of my favourite stories EVER!

Okay, so Carolyn Miller has done it again. Just when I thought I couldn't love her books any more than I already do, she's upped her game. \\nThe Breakup Project has got to be one of my favourite books EVER and I don't say that lightly. I just love Bree and Mike. Bree is so vibrant, genuine and delightful. She is honest and unapologetic about who God made her to be. I love how strong she is and how she didn't excuse or put up with sleazy behaviour and was also open to God's conviction and leading in her life. She's a great example to follow. \\nAnd Mike . . . I love Mike's strength and patience and the way he understood Bree. I truly appreciated his strength of character. He faced troubles and wasn't perfect but he also displayed the fruit of the Spirit. \\nSo many gems in this book and such spiritual depth. And so, so romantic with such a clever plot. The story got me heart and soul and God used it to challenge and encourage me whilst enjoying a beautiful story. I don't think a book can't get much better than that. \\n
