The Bush Beckons: An Aussie Woman's Story of Finding Home

The Bush Beckons is a warm-hearted, richly descriptive story that stayed with me long after I read the final chapter. Linda invites readers into the challenges faced by many young woman, especially from immigrant families. Anyone who loves being out in nature and has soul-searching questions about God, faith and the purpose of life will find this book an enjoyable and inspiring read.

Linda tells us the story of her teenage years when her life went on a downward spiral with stories of romance, betrayal, suicide, and a ruined reputation. But God kept tugging at her with His love, like the police officer who saved her life. ‘When you’re ready, you pack your bags and give me a call.’ His kind words helped her escape from a very dark place. Linda’s writing is captivating, and even though her story is dramatic, if you read it slowly, you appreciate her descriptive, quirky metaphors. Her love for the Australian bush is obvious, as is her love for the many horses she has ridden along bush tracks. Her concluding chapters speak of transformation. "I found a Father who cared about broken bodies, shattered hearts, and empty lives." A ‘true love story’ began, not only with God as her Father, but with a Christian husband who continues to love her. I highly recommend Linda’s story, ‘The Bush Beckons’.

Linda Watt writes beautifully about the way deciding to follow Jesus completely turned her life around, from a life full of shame, helplessness and without plans to a new path full of joy, wholeness, and purpose. It is a wonderful reminder of how sin - our own and other's - wrecks lives and how the redeeming power of Jesus can put things right in miraculous ways. Linda's writing beautifully evokes her childhood spent with horses in the bush, passions she was able to return to in later years. I couldn't put the book down, which is unusual for me, finishing it in three sittings over two days. I will be buying this as a gift for family and friends!
