Helpful for understanding Big Picture of The Bible

This book is very helpful for Christians who want to understand the big picture of the Bible, i. e. the Kingdom of God. Furthermore, this book helps us to have Christ-centered / gospel-centered interpretation of the book of Revelation and also the Wisdom Literature in the Bible.

Every Christian Should Read This Book

Most people who have read this book would count it within the ten most influential books of their spiritual growth. Goldsworthy demonstrates with great clarity how Jesus' claim of that all the Scriptures, including the Old Testament Scriptures that were written before he was born, are really about Him and pointing to him. This Christocentric view of Scripture is the key that unlocks sound theology. . . as opposed to the tendency to draw moral lessons from the myriad of flawed OT characters. If you really want to know how to read the Bible this is the book for you.

    Essential Biblical Theology

If you've never heard of Biblical Theology, then you need to! Gospel and Kingdom, one of the 3 books in this combo, is one of the best explanations of Biblical Theology there is, or how the Bible fits together as a whole. Goldsworthy explains well how the Bible, especially the Old Testament, is not a random conglomoration of stories with moral lessons, but rather a unified theological history of how God has interacted with us and revealed his salvation plan. Goldsworthy also has a similar book set at a slighly lower level called """"According to Plan"""", but really I'm sure this book would be fine for anyone ready to investigate Biblical Theology. \\r\\nAn understanding of how the Bible fits together and how to read it as a unified book is something all Christians need to grasp, and so this book, or one like it, is essential for all who follow Jesus, the fulfillment of God's entire salvation plan (and so cheap!)

    Value for money!

This particular prints actually does contain the full text of all 3 titles that were previously only available separately, and at about 16. 99 EACH! It doesn't shrink the text and paper thickness to unbearable to achieve this as well. Sweet!\\r\\n\\r\\nThe title itself contains very enlightening concepts about the nature of God in respect to His creation and the overall idea of 'kingdom' through a sweeping review of the bible from beginning to end. It's written in a way that it doesn't skimp over depth, but is simple to grasp so it doesn't compromise there either. I hear it's a text book for many theology courses? Either way, check it out for some quality reading!

    A great overview

Gospel and Kingdom is one of the books I need to read for the course I am currently studying - Introduction to the Bible (as part of the Preliminary Theological Certificate at Moore College). I did enjoy reading it and had been meaning to for years - we've had it for probably twelve years now, I think. It is the fourth book I've read as part of my challenge to read 20 books this year. \\r\\n\\r\\nGospel and Kingdom begins with a preacher about to give a children's talk and frustrated with the way he is going to present the Old Testament narrative. Surely the story is more important than a simple moral lesson?\\r\\n\\r\\nGoldsworthy then brings forward the proposition that we should read, and value, the Old Testament. The book provides ample evidence of the message of the Gospel throughout the Old Testament, as well as plenty of other compelling reasons to not ignore the larger portion of the Bible.
