Worth your time - Biblical, practical and balanced

Really helpful book which addresses biblical tensions in sacrifice, rest and the goodness of creation under the banner of Jesus return. I found the chapters on sacrifice, Christian freedom and treating things rightly particularly helpful. The most balanced book I've read on living a sacrificial Christian life which I'd highly recommend.

    Thought-provoking

I enjoyed reading The Good Life in the Last Days and found Mikey Lynch's writing to be clear and accessible. I found the book thought-provoking for the best possible reason, because it directs readers to a wide range of Bible passages that address the question of how we ought to live sacrificially for the sake of Jesus while we wait for his return. This first-principle approach was refreshing and made it worthwhile reading. \\r\\nHowever, I found the book lacked a direct and compelling conclusion and at times I couldn't work out who or what prevailing opinion Mikey was trying to correct. \\r\\nOverall a stimulating read.

Great book - thoughtful, biblical and practical!

This is such a great book. Mikey has a talent for talking about difficult ethical scenarios in ways that are easy to understand, without losing the ethical complexity. \\r\\n\\r\\nAs Christians we are called to follow Jesus, and to make many sacrifices in our lives. Because of our unique circumstances this will look different for everyone. \\r\\n\\r\\nBut how do we know if we are making good choices? \\r\\nWhat does the bible command everyone to do?\\r\\nWhat does the bible encourage us to do?\\r\\nWhere does the bible give us freedom to choose?\\r\\nHow do you balance sacrifice with enjoying good gifts? \\r\\nHow do you know what career is good for you? Ministry or not? \\r\\nWhat if you're chronically ill - are you failing God because you cannot do as much as others? Are you unable to serve God fully? \\r\\n\\r\\nThese are just some of the questions that Mikey covers in his book! \\r\\n\\r\\nHis answers are thoughtful, and insightful. Most importantly Mikey relies on the bible to help him answer these questions, and he does so with integrity and honesty. \\r\\n\\r\\nI loved that Mikey has engaged with God's word (again and again), and also with the views of popular bible teachers (Don Carson, Tim Kheller, and John Dickson just to name a few!) \\r\\n\\r\\nFinally I really enjoyed just how readable this book is - I read it over two days because I could just not put it down!
