The Guardian (#02 in O'Malley Series)

Action, faith, love, family - this book has it all. The intrigue and action is gripping (as Dee Henderson is so famous for) but it's the family aspect of it which pulled me in and held me there. I love this O'Malley family and the way they're there for each other no matter what. The characters and storyline are so well developed - one of those books which is almost impossible to put down. Shari is a beautiful character (and her family is also gorgeous) but it's definitely Marcus who has me coming back to this book time and time again. His wit, his care, and the way he goes out of his way to love and protect is just . . . ahhhh :) Would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves suspense, family and a beautiful romance.

This book is written with such purpose. No character, situation, or relationship is accidental. Although only the second book in the series, I have met all the O'Malley's as they're deeply interwoven in each other's lives. Marcus is the guardian of the family, the protector and leader. This is not taken lightly, especially when he grapples with the importance of God and a personal commitment. In battling to save and protect Shari, Marcus sees God's hand at work and learns the value of trusting Him completely, surrendering all control. How realistic is this in our lives? I greatly appreciate how relatable Dee develops and communicates the faith journey and that it's a processes and not just jumped into. It is a delicate thread tying the story and O'Malley's together. The other elements of the story won't disappoint either. The suspense is great and Dee has a masterful way of pulling the case apart for a resolution you won't see coming. You will turn into a detective yourself and be part of the journey. Shari is a perfect fit for Marcus where their banter and chemistry adds to the intensity of the book. I have read this book now a second time and have noticed things I didn't the first time. This book and series is a great investment! \\r\\n

Ok, swoon. If you're drawn in by a strong, family man, you'll fall fast for Marcus O'Malley in this book. I love the fact that not only is he a guardian in his work but in his family too, holding his somewhat unusual family together and fighting for them no matter what. From first page to last, I couldn't put it down. Loved the importance of family - both the O'Malley's and Shari's - and how gritty real Marcus's journey to love and faith was. Dee Henderson rarely takes the easy way out and it really shows. Would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves suspense, family and a beautiful romance.

LOVED IT!! Wow! I was blown away at how much I loved this novel!! I fell in love with Marcus and Shari. Marcus is the protective type and he had me swooning more than once! Shari is the 'victim' but possesses a quiet strength. I mean, if I went through everything she did, I'm not sure I would've made it. I loved how the elements of faith were touched on. If you are genuinely looking for answers that Marcus was looking for, then this novel is perfect for you. The secondary characters were also lovely. The plot came together fabulously and I was furiously turning the pages to see what would happen next!\\r\\nCan I mention that this novel won a Christy award?!! Does that convince you to get this novel? This is a must read!! I very highly recommend this novel!!
