**With enlightening stories, survey results, and practical tools, this book will help readers create a marriage they love.**

Every married person wants a marriage that feels like home. We long for a partner who is there for us through all of life's challenges and griefs, who is in on all our inside jokes, who delights in the family we've built together, who looks with hope toward the future with a shared faith and an arm firmly around our shoulders. But how do we get there?

What actually works in the real world and honours the picture of marriage found in Scripture?

Based on the findings of their meticulous research, Sheila Wray Gregoire and Dr. Keith Gregoire dispel the pervasive myths about what makes a happy marriage. Rather than relying on gender stereotypes, they look at what actually creates intimacy, emotional health, and connection, asking deeper questions that lead to real healing and growth in your relationship with your spouse.

With enlightening stories, survey results, and practical tools, this book will help readers create a marriage they love. And with the evidence-based, Scripture-honouring advice in this book, that just may be closer than you imagine.

Sheila Wray Gregoire is the face behind BareMarriage.com as well as a sought-after speaker and an award-winning author of nine books, including *The Great Sex Rescue* and *She Deserves Better*. With her humorous, no-nonsense approach, Sheila is passionate about changing the evangelical conversation about sex and marriage to make it healthy, evidence-based, and biblical. She and her husband, Keith, live in Ontario, Canada, near their two adult daughters and three grandbabies. Sheila also knits. Even in line at the grocery store.

**Dr. Keith Gregoire** is a physician and coauthor with Sheila of *The Good Guy's Guide to Great Sex*, companion to her award-winning *The Good Girl's Guide to Great Sex*. Currently, Keith spends most of his professional time providing paediatric care to remote communities in northern Ontario. Plus he birdwatches. Even during mosquito season.

A book based on solid research!

This is a book based on facts and solid research, with heaps of statistical data to substantiate the authors' findings. Yet it's an easy read, and the audio recording is particularly enjoyable with Keith and Sheila narrating in turn. It's also revolutionary in the evangelical marriage-teaching world and is a must read if you want to know the truth about what makes a marriage truly beautiful. Highly recommended to anyone with an interest in seeing both partners flourish in marriage.

    A fantastic book!

I wish this book was published when I was engaged.

It provides a healthy, data based understanding of marriage, revolving around the acronym “BARE”; balance, affection, responsibility, and emotional connection.

I highly reccomend this book for anyone, be they already married, engaged, or even just thinking about their future!

    Exceptional

This is the book I'd been looking for! I wish I'd read this 10 years ago. I'm so thankful that this book has been written and good quailty, biblical, evidence-based marriage advice is out there, not only for growth in our own marriage but to point other too when marriage gets tricky.

The Only Marriage Book You Need!

This marriage book is based on solid scientific research and offers easy, practical solutions you can implement in your marriage. I was interested in this book because it focused on equality rather than gender stereotypes, this seemed like a more simple approach to me and much more Christ-like. This book has met and surpassed my expectations because they cover every aspect that is needed to create a thriving marriage in a kind and nonjudgmental way.

What stood out to me the most was the importance of the division of household labour and mental load. It is a much higher predictor of marriage flourishing than s*x or money – usually what we’re told are the two most important things – teamwork is the answer!

I’ve been married for 11 years and although my husband is a good willed man, I’ve felt the negative and often subtle teachings of purity culture and male entitlement have still been present. This book offers a guilt and shame free way of looking at marriage, that just makes so much sense. The focus is on both partners following Jesus and aiming to look more and

    more like Him.

This book would be amazing for premarital counselling (there is an accompanying study

guide) and for newlyweds, to be able to start out on a solid foundation would be the ideal. But even someone who has been married for a decade like me, or even decades, would still find this beneficial and empowering. It is time for a change in the way the evangelical

church teaches about marriage and this is the…

    Reading it is so freeing!

I breathed a sigh of relief as I read through chapter one.

I had barley began it before a weight lifted from my shoulders.

I have been trying for so long ( despite deconstructing from many beliefs) to fit into this mould, and what's more, believe my partner needs to fit into a mould, that I believed was Biblical, yet doesn't fit our circumstances or personalities!

    Highly recommend couples read this!
