    old idea in new dress

this is a new catechism for a new movement called 'new calvinism'. while the catechism is loosely based and borrows from the two famous catechisms the Heidelberg and the Westminster Shorter catechisms it isn't an improvement in my opinion on either. while both of the mentioned historical catechisms have a well developed theology behind them this appears to me to try to be calvinistic while appeal to a broad evangelical church base. couldn't help but think this was another marketing technique by Together for Gospel (T4G) and The Gospel Coalition (TGC) doing their promotional best to mimic the Reformation. While such movements where beneficial even to me in my early days they did blur the distinctives which took me some time to decipher and untangle. while this may fill a niche for the new movement and for those who find themselves in such churches, only time will tell if this takes to root or will pass most people by like a new fad. check it out, but i would recommend one of the historical originals.
