From Academy Award-winning director Mel Gibson comes this profound and confronting depiction of the final twelve hours in the life of Jesus Christ. Featuring stunning cinematography and an inspired performance by Jim Caviezel as Jesus, The Passion Of the Christ is a triumphant and uncompromising filmmaking achievement.

Mel Gibson funded the film himself and co-wrote the screenplay. He consulted extensively with experts in every aspect of the New Testament world: historical, theological, biblical, linguistic, geographic, architectural, and more, taking great pains to ensure maximum accuracy. The film's main narrative of the Passion itself - drawn from all four Gospels - is supplemented by flashbacks that substantiate key aspects of Jesus life and teachings, such as the Sermon on the Mount and the Last Supper, as well as his relationships with his mother and his disciples.

MA 15+. Warning: strong, graphic violence.

    Must See

I agree with anonymous this is a film every Christian should watch because it shows what Jesus went through and we need to understand how much Jesus loves us and how he died for our sins. This movie is not vile like one of the comments below says, I mean so what it shows the scourging at the pillar at least Mel Gibson as the producer and director is not afraid to show it. Well produced and well acted and worth watching especially during Holy Week!

Every Christian needs to watch this!

This is a film about the crux of Christianity, the crucifixion of Jesus. It is a very intense film that does not hold back, within the realm of filmmaking, in depicting how it would have happened 2000 years ago. Therefore, it is definitely not recommended for anyone under the age of at least 16. There are small issues with the film that relate to doctrinal differences and stylistic choices, but it does not take anything away from the main purpose of the movie. It made me cry seeing that this is, at the very least, what Jesus had to go through to save us. It is a one of a kind visual experience, dictated by the Bible, and it genuinely changes the way you think of Jesus' death on the cross. Again, everyone needs to watch this!

    Incredible

This movie will really help you appreciate Jesus and what He has done for us. He went through great pain for our redemption. A definite recommendation. A warning though for graphic scenes and some may consider 'scary' scenes. However a really high quality film

This is one movie everyone needs to see, Mel Gibson produces and directs a story that comes to life that occurred more than 2,000 years ago! Now is the time to watch this movie as this movie shows the death of Jesus Christ our saviour who died for our sins. This movie will touch your soul it's very powerful and is a reminder why we live as we are nothing without God.
