Readers of this enduring Tozer favourite - written during a train journey in the 1940s - will find themselves shaken from complacency, and inspired by God's awesome nature to follow him with all their strength. As always with Tozer, spiritual depth is expressed with wonderful clarity.
Sometimes the voice that speaks so clearly in the present is one that echoes from the past. So it is in this Christian classic by the late pastor and evangelist A. W. Tozer.
Tozer brings the mystics to bear on modern spirituality, grieving the hustle and bustle and calling for a slow, steady gaze upon God. With prophetic vigor and flowing prose, he urges us to replace low thoughts of God with lofty ones, to quiet our lives so we can know God's presence. He reminds us that life apart from God is really no life at all.
Tozer writes from his knees, a posture fit for presenting the character of God in all its demanding grandeur. "Arise, O sleeper!" is his word to us, and yet if we heed the call, we will see that to arise is not to stand but to kneel before the God of heaven in humble contemplation. To pursue God is to know Him, and in our knowing be drawn in.
*Tozer's bestseller, this book has been called "one of the all-time most inspirational books" by a panel of Christian magazine writers*.

I came to read this book with great expectations of learning more of God's character and how to get closer to Him. I was disappointed to find it so critical of christians who the author obviously sees as wrong or not mature enough. I didn't come away with feelings of peace but rather that the author is frustrated with most churches. There is some good teaching in it but the overall legallism of the book lost me.

Short but rich
This short book sets our focus and gaze away from ourselves and back to God. Rich and concise. \\r\\n

An Author of Profound Thought
Pursuit of God delves deep into the fundamentals of man's relationship with God and more so that of a Christian's relationship with God. Tozer's writing is as if he is taking notes whilst listening to sermons of God. Pursuit of God is not a book on the theology of the Christian faith, but it is a book of real life application as well as a form of spiritual inspiration and conviction. This work inspires Christians to live lives that exalt God; that put Him at the center of our hearts. Whilst he deals with profound notions, he writes in such a manner that most adult readers can understand. This is definitely a book to be read for those that want to explore the character of God.

Unique Devotional Writing
This classic book by Tozer is a devotional style writing. \\r\\nEach chapter is a short devotional thought based on a verse or two of Scripture. Each chapter also ends with a short prayer of application to the reader. The chapters are not connected, so can be read separately. \\r\\n\\r\\nTozer has a very unique writing style which appeals to some and misses the mark for others. \\r\\nThis book would be a good introduction to Tozer for the reader. \\r\\n\\r\\nAlthough the chapters are brief, they are challenges and convict. \\r\\n \\r\\nTozer will connect with some and miss others. Worth reading to experience the great Christian writer.
