The chasm between the biblical vision of marriage and the common human conception is—and has always been—gargantuan. Reflecting on over forty years of matrimony, John Piper exalts the biblical meaning of marriage over its emotion, exhorting couples to keep their covenant as a display of Christ’s covenant-keeping love for the church. He aims to lift the church’s low view of marriage to something infinitely greater, namely, a vision of Jesus’s unswerving allegiance to and affection for his bride. *This Momentary Marriage* unpacks the biblical vision, its unexpected contours, and its weighty implications for married, single, divorced, and remarried alike. Now available in paperback with a freshly redesigned cover, Piper’s book on marriage holds even greater appeal.

Piper presents a high view of marriage: """"The meaning of marriage is the display of the covenant-keeping love between Christ and his people. """"\\nThat is the parable that he expounds for the whole book. \\nIt is written in a conversational style with lots of repetition which drives home this point continuously. \\nHis view is challenging as it pushes marriage further than I would consider it.

    Gospel-centered marriage book

In this book, John Piper expounds on Ephesians 5:21 - 33 to show readers the ultimate meaning of marriage, i. e. marriage is a showcase of the relationship of Christ and the Church. Furthermore, based on Ephesians 5:21 - 33, Piper discusses the role of husbands and wives. It is not only biblical and full of wisdom, but also practical. This book not only addresses marriage, but also singleness in Christ and also discusses marital issues, like money, sex, and divorce.

    Spot on

This book is SPOT ON! A bullseye! Piper brilliantly puts marriage into the correct perspective -- in light of the cross. This book is totally and completely God-centred and God-glorifying. As D. A. Carson states in his review, this book is not a 'how to' but rather 'why to'. This book is one of a kind!
