    Brutally Honest

This book is an honest, raw and gripping autobiography of international rap artist Lecrae. He details his life; exposing his failures and emphasising the power of God. He shows that the christian life is not the perfect, no more mistake lie that we like to portray. I would recommend this book to any christian who is learning to tackle culture with the christian truth.

    Raw, Honest, Gripping

In this book, you get an extremely open and honest account of Lecrae's life - his struggles, difficulties, and rocky journey to faith in Jesus. It's gripping, engaging, and thought-provoking, and gives a great insight into his motivations for what he does in the music industry and how he is trying to glorify God in everything he does. \\r\\n\\r\\nThe book also has some great insights into how Christians ought to engage with our culture. Lecrae has received a lot of flak from people who see him as a sell-out to mainstream culture, but this complete mistake, as this book makes clear. Lecrae is a remarkable and inspiring example of how to engage with culture (and not hide from it in a Christian bubble) without being shaped by it, standing strong to his Christian convictions, and using everything as an opportunity to bring others to Jesus. In this book, Lecrae helps us understand how we can do that too.

    Great!

A long awaited book from Lecrae, this one delves deep into his heart and worldview concerning music, hiphop, the faith and how it all intersects. If you're a fan, you'll love it. If you're a critic, you will learn a lot about the man behind the music. It's no doubt Lecrae loves the Lord deeply - but his methods have been unorthodox which has led to some in less missional church settings questioning his motives. I would say his life is a perfect appropriation of Nancy Pearcey's """"Total Truth"""".

    Entertaining and Informative

I love hip hop and rap, it's my favourite genre of music, so when the biggest name in christian rap released a biography, I was quick to give it a go. Sharing details of his past through to the current day, Lecrae gives us some insight into his music, how it came about, why it came about, and the story behind its progression. I found myself understanding a little better the culture in which African Americans like Lecrae grow up in, the struggles they go through, and the emotional drive behind the music. In his book Lecrae also covers the fact that when you give your life to Christ, it doesn't become perfect overnight, it is a struggle day to day to live for Him. Loved every part of this book, can't recommend it enough.
