Like the other stainless steel products, it keeps water hot or cold for longer periods however need to make sure to follow instructions on how to wash it or maintain it to protect the insulation coating. This way it doesn't lose ability to keep drinks hot or cold for longer periods. I haven't tried if using specifically for hot or cold also protects insultation coating and ability to keep drinks at desired temperature for longer period. At the moment, we are using it for both hot and cold at the same time but worth experimenting on this as well.
