The fear of the Lord is wisdom

I enjoyed this illustrated paraphrase of Job 28, where the treasure seeker is looking for wisdom. The illustrations are engaging and lovely art. The book points the reader to the Cross, and the fear of the Lord, to find the treasure of wisdom. I particularly like the page where the seeker is in an underground gem mine. Engaging from 3yo, with not too much text per page but enough thoughtful content to not lose the attention of a primary school aged child.

    Here's Wisdom!

Here's Wisdom!\\nTreasures can be found by digging into the earth, getting things out of the ocean or hunting through jungles. But where is wisdom, can it be found that way? Can it be purchased?\\nWisdom comes from God. Pay attention to the world and all the wonderful things in it that God has made for us. Give your love, understanding and respect to Him, and you will learn wisdom. In that way, you will find God is pointing to the greatest treasure of all, Jesus. \\nThis children's book is based on Job 28, which can be hard for young ones to understand. The author does a good job explaining a challenging subject by using simple words and vibrant illustrations. I recommend this 5-star book for grades two through fifth. \\n """"The fear of the Lord-\\nTo know God truly,\\nTo be amazed by His greatness,\\nTo want nothing more than to love and live for Him-\\nThat is where wisdom is found. """"\\nB & H Kids Publishing has provided bookreadingtic with a complimentary copy of, Where is Wisdom?, for the purpose of review. \\n """"The fear of the Lord-that is wisdom,\\n and to shun evil is understanding. Great imagery from Job

This is a large hard cover book, really nicely presented, with great pictures. When I first read it a couple of things seemed odd - the wisdom hunter calls down into deep caverns and to the bottom of the sea """"wisdom are you there?"""" and they boom back 'its not in me'. I found it weird to give inanimate objects a voice, but then I read Job 28, the chapter this book is based on, and it is very accurate to the scripture - who knew!!? So I loved getting a better picture of this hunt for wisdom and the reminder that 'The fear of the Lord, that is wisdom. ' There are some nice details in the pictures, though the treasure hunter himself is a little odd looking, and the message is lovely. A great reminder about what is really worth spending time and energy searching for. There is also a parent connection page in the back. I would recommend this book for children between 3-8 years old.
