    A different Christmas story

Jed and Roy are brothers who've been fighting for ages. Every year, they put aside their differences for one day - Christmas day - just to have dinner together but, come Christmas night, they're at war again. But then, one Christmas, all that changes when an angel comes and tells them of a baby who'll bring peace on earth. Although kids aged 1-5 will enjoy the story, it's probably slightly older kids (5-8?) who'll understand more the deeper concepts of how Jesus really does bring peace. Really well written with bright, fun pictures and a parents' page at the end to help aid in discussion with your kids. Definitely recommend as a great Christmas story which goes beyond the typical stories. \\n

    Another Christmas story

Part of a lovely book series for children. There are a couple of sentences for each double page, so this book is suitable for young kids but the message may also be appreciated by older kids too. The story is written by an Aussie. The pictures are very simple but bright and colourful. In short, this book is about two feuding brothers (Jed and Roy) who are the shepherds from the Nativity story. They visit baby Jesus who will bring 'Peace on Earth'. The brothers are reconciled on their return from Bethlehem. This book provides an interesting opening to discuss peace on earth and does link to the bible, however does not cover the full Nativity story.

    Too Simple

This is a very simple interpretation of Jesus' birth told from the perspective of two feuding shepherd brothers. I found that it was written too simply though and so doesn't capture the gravity of the meaning of 'peace on earth' that the story alludes to.
