    Must-have book on Joshua

This commentary on the book of Joshua is both rigorous and devotional. Ralph Davis makes historical narrative clear and understandable before bringing it to life for the reader by drawing out applications from the text to our lives. His responsible and devotional handling of often puzzling Old Testament passages makes this book essential for all Christians.

    Outstanding Commentary

This commentary is beautifully readable and does an outstanding job of explaining the not-that-easy book of Joshua. The style resembles the Bible Speaks Today series though it is perhaps a little briefer than volumes in that series. That said, Davis is probably more insightful than most other commentators, explains the text well in its Old Testament context and applies it relevantly to modern readers. \\r\\n\\r\\nYou can see that Davis has done his homework from the quality of the material he cites in his footnotes. The text itself is very accessible but it is clear that it is the product of thoughtful engagement with the standard scholarship. \\r\\n\\r\\nI think one highlight of this book is the quality of the study questions at the end of each section. They are thoughtful and proving and would be an enormous help to Bible study leaders using this book as a guide.
